3.4.1 Purpose
The Company shall establish Environmental management programs (EMP) or action plans to describe how to achieve objectives and targets for different aspects. This shall incorporate time frame and person responsible to accomplish the tasks. Company objectives and targets are measured as part of the annual environmental review. The results of EMS audits and vessel’s monthly operational reports are the main tools used to measure the implementation of the EMS.
3.4.2 Scope
EMP’s consist of action plans that are necessary to achieve environmental objectives and targets. Therefore, company environmental management programs shall be linked directly to the objectives and targets. The EMP describes how the Company, as an organization will translate its goals and policy commitments into concrete actions so that Environmental objectives and targets are achieved.
3.4.3 Procedure
(a.) The EMP describes targets and objectives; operational controls, procedural details, and monitoring process to ensure compliance.
(b.) For each objective of the company within EMP, action plans have been established to achieve and demonstrate the appropriate management of EMS.
(c.) Upon finalization of the List of Environmental Objectives and targets, it is passed on to respective groups to outline appropriate action plans.
(d.) Technical Director of each group has developed EMS Implementation Plans to provide guidance to fleet personnel and shore staff on achieving the requirements set forth in this Manual. Implementation Plan addresses environmental objectives, targets, performance indicators, schedules, resources, and responsibilities for achieving them.
(e.) The HSSEQ with TD & MD shall review the draft of Environment Management Plan submitted by dept and this shall be laid down as the List of Safety, Quality, Environment Objectives and Targets/Management programs after approval by the Top Management.
(f.) These programs shall define the principal actions to be taken, by those responsible for undertaking these actions, and the scheduled times for their implementation.
3.4.4 Review of Environmental Programmes
Implementation Plans are dynamic and shall be revised when necessary to reflect changes in the department's objectives and targets.
